AT&T became the latest today to join the job apps available to iPhone and iTouch users. The company’s new app allows iPhone users to search job openings anywhere in the company.
You can search by type of job — call center, retail, sales, technicians, etc. — or by key word. Unfortunately, the only way to search jobs in your local area is to go to the key word search box and type in, for example, “Orange County.”
Maybe I tested this out during peak hours but the app pulled up no results in Orange County. Or Irvine. Or Los Angeles. An AT&T spokesperson assures me that this is how the app works and that there are job openings in the area. The company’s job page on its web site at least lets one narrow jobs by state.
When there are job openings in your area or field, users can set up the app to send out an alert.
But AT&T, which offers 7 other iPhone apps, isn’t the only one with job-seeking iPhone apps available. There are more than 100! For those not on iTunes, here’s a looksee (the links below take you to the app in the iTunes store). In no particular order, here are a few that caught my eye:
- CareerBuilder
- High Paying Jobs, from Moov Corp.
- MacEnvy.com Now Hiring, $0.99
- Beyond.com jobs
- JobCompass, from Securicy Ventures (shows jobs located near you)
- Malakye.com jobs in action sports
- LinkUp Job Search Engine, highlights only jobs posted on company sites
- Mobile Jobs Buddy, offers listings for iPhone app developers and other mobile developers.
- Indeed.com’s Job Search, a search engine for jobs.
- JobFinder from Organise Ltd. (looks like this is United Kingdom heavy)
- iFreelancer, collection of freelance computer jobs, $3.99.
- A+ iFindJob, from Hana Mobile, $0.99.
- And no Monster.com app in the U.S, but Monster offers one for its Hong Kong listings. Free, of course.
Many more: Just type “jobs” into the search box in the iTunes app store.
